Not Quite Lost
jobe
I'm not as lost as I could have been
Shouldn't, couldn't, wouldn't have then
Toiled, and twisted, dust in the wind
Trying to keep holding onto this pen

All the accusations and blame that was made
The stories of hate, and pain with no escape
Opened my heart, only to fill it with sand
Just me and the moon, and she'll hold my hand

I'm not as lost as I could have been
Shouldn't, couldn't, wouldn't have then
Toiled, and twisted, dust in the wind
Trying to keep a face with a grin

It's funny, and sad, and relaxing you know
To throw your worries aside and roll in the snow
Naked as the day you came into the world
with a rainbow shimmer, like mother of pearl

I'm not as lost as I could have been
Shouldn't, couldn't, wouldn't have then
Toiled, and twisted, dust in the wind
Trying to keep my cup filled with gin

The choices we make, are the paths that we take
When making an omelet there's eggs that will break
Can't walk away when there's so much at stake
You and me, babe, and a house on the lake

The future we know is bright and unknown
Bobbing n' weaving 'round the bricks that we've thrown
No hanging your head, when there's hope there's a home
If but for you I'll go it alone.

I'm not as lost as I could have been
Shouldn't, couldn't, wouldn't have then
Toiled, and twisted, dust in the wind
Trying to keep another hole out of my head

Sooner or later the story unfolds
Times grow stale, and people grow old
But there's always a little sunshine
in this satchel of mine
And out in the hills, there's a place we can hide
